Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) 18 December 2011

Three local musicians who are all actively involved in community projects, have launched a new project to life after school to teach children deprived of a musical instrument. The program focuses on children between the ages of 11 and 16, from families who could otherwise not afford music lessons or to get the price of renting or buying a musical instrument. The idea is to children who otherwise have no opportunity to get involved with music you would like to encourage. There is also contact with classical music and the opportunity to learn from classically trained musicians. Based on a local community center, runs the project from Monday through Thursday evenings.

“In addition to weekly classes, we come to a welcoming environment and support for children to practice after school, and offer free courses, we offer the tools,” says Beth Stollman, one of the three musicians began for the project. The rental or purchase of musical instruments is considered one of the biggest obstacles for children from poorer families to start learning an instrument to be.

The three musicians who started the project – Beth Stollman, Judith Phillips and Andy Masser are active on a daily basis to take classes involved. Students have the opportunity, violin, cello, flute or clarinet study. “Depending on the resources that we extend to him, hoping to include voice lessons,” says Beth Stollman. They are supported by a large number of volunteers and people receiving instruments shown in the area.

One of the initiators of the project, Beth Stollman says. “Music is offering a positive and constructive discharge is not only a constructive way to spend free time, but also allows children to push the study. The music also helps kids with math and even concentration”.

are now more than 40 children learning to play an instrument in the program. They are striving to put together a spring concert in March next year for the family and those who have generously donated to the project.
